Black Dragon / Burning Volcano

A fishing town, built at the far side of an ancient volcano, revives an ancient hunting festival when heavy rainfalls bring a flood and a magical eel.

The village leader had dinner with his only daughter and his only living son, then went to bed. He was woken up in the dead of night by the men of the village. The village was flooding from the rain, and an eel was seen swimming. The people call upon their priest and hero, the former champion lampooner, to hunt the aquatic menace.

Adventurers are invited to undertake a mission into the volcano, only to learn that a cult is trying to use it to bring about the end of the world. The twist is that the volcano is dead, and so both the players and the cult undertook their actions against the eruption for naught.

The journey starts at the bottom of the volcano, goes up the slope to the top, then descends down to the bottom where the seal supposedly holds the volcano back.

Why the mistaken prophecy? Because the founder wanted to give hope, yet this hope was corrupted. His study of marionettes made him love humanity enough that he wished to lie.
