Evening
With time, her body had relaxed;
and I, too, had become at ease.
Anyone who saw us then
would have thought that we were lovers.
For all of that six-minute song,
we had held each other tightly
without letting go or saying a word.
Even when the music had stopped
and the evening breeze had died away,
she had stayed for a while in my arms
with her small face right next to mine,
as if to give me a loving kiss
or to whisper sweet nothings meant
for my ears and my ears alone.
