Elyon Good goes to a new area and rapidly develops it, creating a beautiful utopian community where the Tiffany family gains disproportionate sway within a few generations. Two relatives of the Tiffany family, Adam and Eve, are outcasts from the family estate after being tempted to commit cousin incest (“taste the forbidden fruit”) by Belinda of the Morgenstern clan, who seeks to usurp the Tiffany family’s hold over the area.
Adam is forced to work for the first time in his life, and Eve’s body is broken and weak from childbirth and caring for their children. Though cast away from their birthplace, Adam and Eve are secretly sponsored by Adonis Good, a descendant of the Good family who still secretly intervenes in the region (and who traditionally names all the members of the Tiffany family).
Adam and Eve have two children, Cain and Abel, who grow up in humble conditions. Though the children both adore Adonis, who becomes their tutor and mentor, he is more interested in Abel than in Cain, which causes strife between the brothers. Cain strikes Abel after the former is rejected while the latter is accepted, and accidentally kills his brother. Due to this, Cain is forever distant from Adam and Eve while also gaining the disfavor of the Good family.
