The doctor was looking at me. Her gaze held me in her eye, behind
the glasses I have come to see as the window to the soul that, surely,
was joined with mine. My body cleaned the tables and the floors,
serving the kindly owner Alain. My mind was fixed on her, the one
who saw me and knew me as I was.
