Thunder is the premonition of something greater to come, of a life of sorrow awaiting the artist who toils at his desk without a care in the world. It may be fun to put words down on paper, but what is the real joy in it except to break through into enlightenment? Finishing a novel is hard when you truly love writing, because by the time you are halfway through there is so much to gain in giving up and torching the whole thing.
