Nourishment
The more I thought about my life,
the clearer I saw it was not enough.
Something was missing, far out of my reach.
The prospect of starting a normal life,
of slowly forgetting my burning heart,
became a cosmic death sentence.
My parents, Louise, the world at large —
no one would understand me until
I put my soul into words on a page.
Starting a family with a good woman
was a good dream in its own right.
That dream, however satisfying,
was still too ordinary for me.
