Dominates

Back then, ‘Victoria’ was my mental spelling
(since that was what was normal to my eye),
but when I went to look her up on Facebook,
I noticed that she’s now ‘Viktoriya’.
I don’t remember seeing how she wrote it
when we were both still back in middle school,
but I’ll adopt her spelling in this text.
Though really, it distracts from what I’m saying.
I, like my schoolmates, thought of her as Vicky.
(Or was it ‘Vickie’. . .  does it really matter?)
